at_teatro logo_4c_NEW

A Comedy by Gustavo Ott
Directed by Abigail Vega

Divorcees, Evangelists, and Vegetarians delivers the joys and especially the frustrations of single women with a frank, over-the-top honesty that will make audiences squirm with delight. Follow the antics of divorcee Beatriz, who is at her wits’ end, Gloria a pushy vegetarian with tons of personal baggage, and the evangelical Meche, a menopausal widow. These friends will help each other through personal crisis… if they can keep from killing each other first.

“Identity vs. Identification: Empowering Women to Transcend Labels”
Labels are basically a method of identification. Christian, atheist, feminist, doctor, artist, Democrat, Republican, businesswoman, mother, etc. There’s nothing inherently wrong with labels—the human brain is designed to categorize and labels lend some order to society. The problem is that labels can often lead to stereotypes and limits on the fullness of identity. Join us for a candid discussion about assumptions, expectations, and ways to empower women in the 21st century.
