It’s time to reserve a spot for yourself or your child in an Aurora Theatre Academy class. Aurora Theatre Academy intensives are for all ages! We have our traditional programs for grades 1–12, as well as an Adult Acting Class! Aurora Theatre, being the only professional theatre in Gwinnett County, is the ideal place to study the arts. What distinguishes Aurora Theatre Academy from other theatre programs is that students have the opportunity to rehearse and perform in a professional theatre, and the instructors are working professionals with years of real-world theatrical experience. Aurora Theatre Director of Education, Jaclyn Hofmann, has put together an incredible team of teaching professionals, who you may have spotted on stage around Atlanta or on screen anywhere from Georgia Lottery commercials to HBO! In addition to receiving training to be a winner onstage, students build confidence, communication and life skills that will be a valuable part of their bright futures.

Mini & Master Classes
Classes for Elementary School Students Grades 1–5
These classes give students the opportunity to learn what it takes to put on a play. Students will be provided with valuable stage experience, while encouraging teamwork and collaboration with peers. The experience instills a sense of self-confidence in our students. They will be active participants in creating portions of the sets, costumes, and props for these exciting, whirlwind productions presented to family and friends.
Mini Class (Grades 1–3): Tuesdays, September 9–October 28, 4:30–6:00pm
Master Class (Grades 4–5): Tuesdays, September 9–October 28, 4:30–6:00pm
Home School Elementary Class (Grades 1–5): Tuesdays, September 9–October 28, 2:00–3:30pm

Acting Edge Classes
Classes for Middle and High School Students Grades 6–12
Acting Edge Class
Teens, take the drama out of your life and put it where it belongs—on stage! Through a series of theatre games, exercises, and exploration, the class will become an ensemble of players rehearsing a collection of scenes to be performed for friends and family. Intermediate Acting Edge is for Students who are brand new to Aurora Academy, while the Advanced class is for returning Aurora Academy Students.
Acting Edge Middle School (Grades 6–8):

Acting Edge High School (Grades 9–12)†:

Adult Improvisation Acting Class
Classes for 18 and up
Have you ever wanted to act or maybe just feel more comfortable in front of an audience? It’s not too late for you to be on stage! In the Aurora Theatre Academy Adult Improvisation Acting Class, learn the craft and technique of Improvisational Acting. Work on skills like thinking fast on your feet, being a good collaborator by saying “Yes, and…,” building confidence for public speaking, and having a BLAST while doing it!
Mondays, September 8–October 13, 7:30–9:30pm
Tuition: $175 per Session*
*There is a one time New Student Registration Fee of $25. A discount is available for students taking multiple sessions or for families with multiple students. Pre-booking guarantees your spot in one of our classes. Enrollment in each class is limited to 15 students.
All class payments are non-refundable.
|Jaclyn Hofmann (Director of Education) has a BFA in Theatre Performance from Jacksonville University and an MFA in Acting from Michigan State University, where she taught undergraduate acting courses for three years. She’s taught locally for Atlanta Shakespeare Company, Georgia Ensemble Theatre, Aurora Academy, and Kennesaw State University. Jaclyn is currently an Adjunct Theatre Teacher at Georgia Gwinnett College. She is also a proud co-founding member of The Weird Sisters Theatre Project. This season at Aurora, Jaclyn is excited to direct the Learning Library production of Cat in the Hat and the Studio production, Tamer of Horses. She is also lucky enough to be performing in The Twelve Dates of Christmas this December! Love and thanks to my family and Nick.|
|Catie Councell (Mini Class & Home School Elementary Instructor) is delighted to be on the Aurora Teaching Staff. This summer she taught for several of the Aurora Academy Summer Camp Sessions. She is a graduate of the Aurora Apprentice Company, and has performed on stage here in The Cat in the Hat, Milo at the Movies, and understudied in Lombardi. Catie received a BFA in Acting from Brenau University. Some of her past credits include Gwendolen Fairfax in The Importance of Being Earnest, Ilona Ritter in She Loves Me, and various roles in the touring Gainesville Theatre Alliance Repertory Company.|
|Jessica De Maria (Master Class Instructor) is a regular teaching artist at Aurora Theatre and the Alliance Theatre. This summer she will also be starting Educational Programming for High School students at Actor’s Express. She has also served as the Young Playwrights Festival Coordinator at Horizon Theatre. Jessica’s recent credits include The Grimm Lives of the Inbetweens (Alliance Theatre), Les Misérables, Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood, Big River in Concert (Aurora Theatre), and James and the Giant Peach (Georgia Ensemble Theatre) and Bachelorette (Pinch ‘N’ Ouch Theatre). You can also see Jessica this summer in Mary Poppins at Aurora Theatre. Jessica is a graduate of Oglethorpe University and holds an MA from the University of South Florida. She is THRILLED to be at Aurora directing SEUSSICAL!|
|Tony Larkin (Acting Edge High School Class & Adult Improvisation Acting Class Instructor) has been happily teaching and acting with Aurora (one of his favorite companies to work with) since 2011. Tony grew up in Atlanta in a very pro-theatre household, and booked his first professional acting job in 1991, at age 10; working for three weeks at The Fox Theatre, in the National Tour of Camelot. Since then, Tony has worked in professional theatre in Florida, New York City, Chicago, Boston, Asheville (NC), and of course, Atlanta. In Atlanta, Tony has worked with Aurora, The Alliance, The Weird Sisters Theatre Project (his other favorite company), Georgia Shakespeare, Actor’s Express, Georgia Ensemble Theatre, Synchronicity, Stage Door Players, and Dad’s Garage, among many others… and plans to remain here for a very long time. TV/Film credits include: GA Lotto, Ben 10: Alien Swarm, USA Network’s Monk, and Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva, among others. You can see him this Spring in Aurora’s The Explorer’s Club!|
|Tiffany Porter (Acting Edge Middle School Class Instructor) is always excited to teach at Aurora! She has her BFA in Professional Acting from The School of Theatre and Dance at East Carolina University. Tiffany is regularly seen performing at the Atlanta Shakespeare Tavern, as well as teaching many of their Shakespeare Residencies and summer camps. Tiffany is also on the Artistic Team for The Weird Sisters Theatre Project, and was last seen performing with them at the Shakespeare Tavern. Love to her family.
