About the Comedians
Andy Sandford is a stand up comedian who got funny in Atlanta and is now based out of New York City. He can be seen playing himself on Adult Swim’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Andy is a founding member of the nationally acclaimed comedy tour “The Beards Of Comedy,” who have recorded their sophomore album, Cardio Mix, with Comedy Central Records; and whose web series, Beards Across America, has racked up over 1,000,000 views on msn.com. Sandford’s stand up is regularly featured on XM/Sirius satellite radio as well as Pandora. In 2011, Rooftopcomedy.com bestowed Andy the Silver Nail Award, given to the “8 best upcoming comics in the country.” Andy has shared the stage with comedy legends such as Brian Regan, Jim Gaffigan, Emo Phillips, Greg Proops, Margaret Cho, and Bobcat Goldthwait, as well as great comedians with other names.
Audiences across the country are laughing, cheering and begging for more from comedian LaVar Walker as he spouts his hilarious opinions about dealing with “haters,” the differences between black and white strip clubs, and the frustrations that stem from six years of pharmacy school only to end up a glorified retail-checkout guy in a white lab coat. LaVar’s attention to life’s minute details, his spot-on impressions, and his outrageous facial expressions have brought his show from New York to Los Angeles, from Cleveland to Miami, and from his childhood home on the south side of Chicago to his new home in Atlanta. LaVar has toured with Rickey Smiley and Friends and hosted the Infamous Uptown Comedy Corner which featured such acts as Chris Rock, Kevin Hart, Charlie Murphy, Arie Spears, and Paul Mooney. In August 2012 LaVar won the Miller Lite national stand up championship. Since then, he has slayed audiences as the newest member of the “Shaq All Star Comedy Jam.” Currently, LaVar is working on his first DVD. Look for its release soon.
Host Debra Cole
In 2012, Aurora Theatre welcomed comedienne Debra Cole as the new host of Aurora Theatre Funny Fridays. Atlanta comedy enthusiasts know Debra’s wry humor from her many performances as a solo act and part of the Mixed Nuts comedy troupe, a Funny Fridays mainstay. Born on April Fool’s Day, Debra’s sassy audience interaction and left-hook delivery are sure bets to bring the laughs and set the pace for visiting comedians, making Funny Fridays the best comedy show in the metro area. In fact, Vicki Locke says, “Debra is so stinking funny.” Juror #12 says, “She has a wit like a barber strap.” And the Fulton County Magistrate says, “Twice Divorced!” Mark your calendars now. You don’t want to miss a single performance of this series!
