Auditions for Summer: The Donna Summer Musical will be held on the following dates:

Monday, 10/10 from 10AM-8PM.

Seeking the Roles of:

DISCO DONNA (Female) –DONNA SUMMER in her late teens and 20s, riding the wave of her skyrocketing career from Boston to Germany, to the discotheques of Los Angeles and Manhattan. She is charismatic and strong as she navigates this world for the first time.
Belt to E. Mix to G above staff. Lead.
Ethnicity: Black
Age: Late teens/20s

 

BRUCE SUDANO (Male) – Bass player for Brooklyn Dreams and DONNA’s eventual husband. Steadfast, supportive, bright, and witty.
Tenor. Lead.
Ethnicity: White
Age: Late 30s/Early 40s.

 

ADULT MARY ELLEN (Female) – Much like her younger counterpart, she supports DONNA when her sister needs her most. Spunky and outspoken. Strong singer, harmonizer, and dancer. Supporting role. Belt G
Ethnicity: Black
Age: 20s/30s

 

NEIL BOGART/GUNTER (Male) – A dual-cast role.
NEIL: The head of Casablanca Records and DONNA’s mentor. Works hard and parties harder. Late 30s.
GUNTER: DONNA’s German boyfriend. Handsome and charming, but with a darker edge.
Supporting role.
Ethnicity: White
Age: Late 30s.

 

ADULT DARA (Female) – Compassionate. Helps DONNA during one of her darkest times. Strong singer and dancer. Supporting role.

Age: 20s/30s

 

ANDREW GAINES (Male)DONNA’s father. Ex-military. Has a stern exterior but loves his children more than anything.
Supporting role.

JOYCE BOGART (Female)NEIL BOGART’s business-savvy wife. One of DONNA’s few friends in the industry.
Supporting role.

Preparation Information:

· Sides are available on Aurora Theatre’s website.
· Both a dancer and mover video will be made available on the website prior to the audition. Please come familiar with the combination.
· Principal Vocalists – Please bring a 16-32 bar cut of a song in the style of the show. Prepare one of the provided music sides.

Seeking the role of Duckling Donna/Mimi Sudano:

Seeking a young female performer to play Donna Summer as a pre-teen, trying to find her voice amid a large Boston family. She has gumption, and yet is also fragile. Also plays MIMI, DONNA’S oldest daughter. Strong singer and dancer. Lead. 

Ethnicity: Black 
Age: Teens 

Actor Requirements:

This dynamic diva will need a be a strong actor, strong mover, and solo singer with the ability to sing 3-part harmony.
Must have reliable transportation 
Must have a flexible schedule in order to accommodate the rehearsal process
Must be able to work in a professional theatre setting
Must have a great attitude

Preparation Information:

Learn the Duckling audition song. At the audition, you will sing with a live pianist.
• Learn the audition scene. At the audition you will perform the Duckling lines with another person reading the other characters.
Learn either the dancer or mover choreography combination. At the audition, you will review and perform this choreography.

This role will be shared by multiple  youth performers. You will not perform for every show.
