It is 1950 and Godfrey Crump has just lost his wife. Spellbound by the evangelist Father Devine, he pulls up stakes and moves his teenage daughters from Pensacola Florida to Brooklyn to be close to the Peace Mission Movement. Told through the eyes of his 17-year-old daughter, this memory play examines a family’s process of grief and healing in a decade of political, racial, and social upheaval in the United States. Lynn Nottage, the first and only woman to have won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama twice, makes her Aurora debut with a story that aims straight at the heart.

This hilariously divine new play filled with madcap mayhem and a touch of romance brings a little bit of Animal House to The Ivy League.

BLOCKBUSTER MUSICAL
To Be Announced November 2020

April 29 – June 6, 2021

In 2018, we had to wait to announce a blockbuster title and we delivered our all-time best seller and crowd favorite MAMMA MIA! In 2019, we had to wait to announce ON YOUR FEET! the story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan, bringing the music of the 26-time Grammy Award-winners to Aurora audiences. In order to gain the right to produce the hottest properties in musical theatre we sometimes have to wait to disclose the title. We can tell you this show is going to be a party filled with music you know and love. Very, very good things will come to those who wait.
