Aurora Comedy Nights

Aurora Theatre has been hosting the best local and national comedians since opening our new location in 2007.

Aurora Comedy Nights is hosted by bright young comedienne Katie Causey—a member of multiple improv and sketch comedy groups in Athens and in Atlanta.

Friday & Saturday, May 12 & 13
7:15 and 9:15

Tickets $18

Katie Causey is an actor and comedian living in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from the University of Georgia (with two degrees she’s currently not using) and was a member of the first ever Apprenticeship Company at the Aurora Theatre. Since completing the Apprenticeship Katie has immersed herself in Atlanta’s ever growing film industry working with Burger King, the PGA, and Coca-Cola for a variety of commercials. Katie’s main passion, however, is comedy. Whether she is performing stand-up, improvising with the group, BANSHEE Improv, or acting, Katie loves making people laugh. When performing stand-up, Katie enjoys making current events as silly as possible and sharing stories from her time growing up in middle Georgia. For updates check out her website: www.KatieCausey.com or her improv group’s website: www.BansheeImprov.com

ABOUT THE COMEDIANS

Headiner: DAN MENGINI (MAY 12-13)
Calling all Over-thinkers … you’ve met your match!

Dan’s “Too worried about too little and not really smart enough to do anything about it” mindset combined with his slim stature earned him the nickname “Featherweight Champion of Over-thinking!” It’s truthful and brilliant comedy that’ll keep you laughing for a lifetime. He delivers a show that’s fun, relatable, and a great cure for loneliness!
Notable television appearances include Pure Flix Comedy All-Stars, Laughs on FOX, Showtime’s Homeland, USA Network’s Necessary Roughness, Lifetime TV’s Drop Dead Diva, The CW’s One Tree Hill , and starring roles on two Adultswim live action shows. He has also appeared in over 50 National TV Commercials and tours Comedy Clubs, Colleges, Corporate Events, and Theaters across the country. His last name is pronounced “Men ghee nee”.

Dan also appeared in the feature film “42”. Directed by Academy Award ® winner Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential) and starring Harrison Ford, Christopher Meloni, & Chadwick Boseman, 42 tells the life story of Jackie Robinson and his history-making signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey.

Headliner: LAWRENCE KILLEBREW (MAY 26–27)
Killebrew first burst onto the comedy scene in November of 2004, at the Rascals Comedy Club in Cherry Hill, NJ. At the age of 23, Lawrence began performing at comedy franchises such as the Laff Factory, Improv, and Rascals comedy clubs located all over the United states, along with entertaining the younger generation of viewers at colleges and universities along the east coast. Since then, he has continued his journey from an amateur open mic performer, to an up-and-coming comic and has become a well-known and respected comedian.

Over the course of Lawrence’s career he has toured and opened for a number of comedians, such as Katt Williams, Kevin Hart, and Bill Burr. He has hosted his own comedy show, “Tickle Me Tuesday”, since 2007 and just celebrated its five year anniversary. In early 2010, Killebrew went on tour in Seoul Korea, along with other comedians, to perform for the troops. In addition to comedy, this chameleon is also a guest jockey on Radio One’s 100.3 The Beat on “Philly Home Jamz” on Sunday nights. After successfully surpassing all expectations at Jamie Foxx’s Laffapalooza Comedy Festival in their “New Faces” competition, Lawrence is willing and ready to set his sights on new opportunities and larger projects in order to advance his career in the world of comedy.
