Lunch Box

May 28, 2022-May 31, 2022

Lunch Box is an original play written and performed by the high school students of the Asian Student Alliance (ASA), a 501c3 non-profit organization in Metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia. This educational play portrays the lived experiences of the ASA students. The play is set in 2021, more than 170 years after the first Asians immigrated to the United States, and the same year of the racially motivated shootings at two Atlanta area spas, where 8 people were killed, 6 of whom were Asian American women. The performance is approximately one hour in length and will be followed by a 45 minute student-led discussion with the audience. The purpose of the production is to educate non-AAPIs about some of the common experiences of the AAPI communityBy sharing our stories, we hope to grow empathy, collaboration, and harmony in our local and global communities.

Asian Student Alliance is a student-centered organization that provides opportunities for students to grow as leaders, amplify their voices, and educate the community about AAPI history and experiences. The mission of ASA is to build leadership capacity among our Asian American students by fostering a safe place to navigate their intersectional identities, empowering them to become active world-class members in their global community. Tickets for the performance are on sale at the Lawrenceville Arts Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The price is $25 for each ticket. The performance is in the Bartow & Leslie Morgan Cabaret at the Lawrenceville Arts Center. Limited seating is available. All proceeds go to the production costs of the play.
