We Are The Young

The Magic Eastern Ensemble is a musical performance group founded in 2020 and is under the leadership of music instructor Yao Lu.  

Comprised primarily of students from the Magic Eastern Music Studio, the ensemble is committed to performing music on traditional Chinese instruments. The group is excited to explore not only traditional music but new folk compositions. Additionally, they have a passion for fusion with the aesthetics of Western music to provide a diverse audience with a new understanding of traditional Chinese instrumentation by combining with electronic music, jazz and more to create a one-of-a kind sound. Magical Eastern Ensemble has performed at several international, cultural and arts festivals, notably the Gwinnett County Bicentennial Celebration, NAAAP (National Association of Asian American Professionals – Atlanta) and the Atlanta International Night Market.

魔力东方乐团是成立了3年的演奏团体。

指导老师为青年演奏家路瑶老师。

乐团成员以魔力东方音乐工作室的学员为主。包括在职工作的成年学员，及小学初中的在校学生。

乐团一直致力于弘扬传统的民族器乐文化和符合西方音乐文化美学所结合的创新的跨界新民乐。通过结合电子音乐，爵士乐和传统乐器的音乐作品，让许多人产生了浓厚的兴趣并获得了对传统中国乐器的新认识。

近年来，乐团也收到了一些来自文化节的演奏邀请。在Gwinnett 200周年庆典，NAAAP亚特兰大活动，亚特兰大国际夜市和一些其他的国际文化艺术节上也进行了表演。

Yao Lu, graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy, bamboo flute (Dizi) and guzheng performer.

She learned to play bamboo flute under the tutelage of Mr. Zhan Yongming, the famous flute performer, educator, and doctoral supervisor of Shanghai Conservatory of Music. On the other hand, she started out her guzheng journey under the guidance of Ni Lei, a guzheng performer, then pursued further study of guzheng under the instruction of Ms. Wu Yang, a famous performer.

She has been involved in a variety of TV music programs, large-scale performances and recording work over the years. She was also invited to be a special guest star featuring in the movie "Tiny Times 3". In addition, she has participated in the variety show "I Love the Voice" produced by Zhejiang Satellite TV.

She set up Magic Eastern Music Studio while living in the US. Magic Eastern Ensemble consists of vigorous young talents was formed under her efforts. She has been committed to promoting the traditional national instrumental music culture and the cross-border new folk music that conforms to the aesthetics of Western music culture. She was given the opportunity to perform some adapted music such as Kangding Love Song, with the support and encouragement of Christina Liang, the famous Taiwan composer, music creator, and the winner of the 21st Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music. Many local Americans and Chinese Americans have developed a great interest and acquired a new understanding of traditional Chinese instruments through these music works that are combined with electronic music, jazz and traditional musical instruments. In recent years, she has been invited by the University of North Georgia, Emory and other well-known universities for exchange performances and New Year concerts. She has also performed in Gwinnett 200th Celebration, NAAAP Atlanta events , Atlanta international nightmarket and major international cultural and arts festivals.

Apart from being invited to give lectures on folk music and concert performances, she has also led the Magic Eastern Ensemble to participate in various major arts festivals in Atlanta, including the Atlanta Chinese IT Association, the Chinese Business Association of Atlanta, and some major performances of Chinese groups. The idea that folk music can be passed down and rejuvenated has been well implemented. Therefore, under her leadership, the form and content of the orchestra have received wide praise and unanimous recognition.

路瑶, 毕业于上海戏剧学院。旅美青年竹笛演奏家，青年古筝演奏家。

师从著名笛子演奏家、教育家，上海音乐学院研究生博士生导师詹永明先生。古筝启蒙于青年古筝演奏倪蕾，后师从著名演奏家伍洋女士。

历年来参与各种电视音乐节目录制，大型演出及录音工作。并被邀请录制电影《小时代3》特邀演员。浙江卫视《我爱好声音》等等。

在美期间，创建了魔力东方音乐工作室。组建了由年轻人为主的魔力东方乐团。立志在国外推广传统民族器乐文化以及符合西方音乐文化审美的跨界新民乐。并且得到了著名台湾作曲家，音乐创作者，第二十一届传艺类金曲奖得主Christina Liang 梁启慧女士的支持与鼓励，演奏由她改编创作的一些乐曲，比如《康定情歌》等。这些结合了电子乐，jazz和传统乐器的形式，也让当地的美国人和华裔们对中国传统乐器产生了兴趣，并且有了新的认知。近年来更是受邀至University of North Georgia、Emory等知名大学进行交流演出及新年音乐会演出，Gwinnett 200周年庆祝演出，NAAAP亚特兰大亚洲领袖峰会，国际夜市以及各大国际文化艺术节等。除了个人受邀做一些宣传民乐的讲座、音乐会演出外。还带领魔力东方乐团参加各类亚特兰大地区大型艺术节的演出、亚特兰大IT协会、亚特兰大中国商会以及一些华人团体的重大演出活动。将民乐可以传承也可以年轻化的想法落实与行动当中。因此乐团演出形式和内容也广受好评。

Cindy Fang, erhu, graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a Master of Arts degree in Advertising. She began playing the Erhu when she was four or five years old. Her instructor was the principal Erhu from China Coal-mine Art Troupe in Beijing. She has practiced and performed for school orchestras since middle school and has participated in school performance events such as welcoming visiting school officials from a Japanese sister high school in Nagoya. She loves traditional Chinese music and has also learned the Pipa. She plays the Erhu in the Magic Eastern Ensemble and has held Hayao Miyazaki theme concerts and Emory Cooke Noontime Concert Series with the Ensemble, participated in other International cultural and arts festivals in Georgia.

方英,毕业于萨瓦纳艺术设计学院。她从四五岁起向王树刚先生（曾任中国煤矿文工团二胡首席）学习二胡。在初高中时，一直参与校民乐团的排练与演出。曾与校民乐团一起参与日本星城高中的接待演出。因非常喜欢中国民乐, 又学习了琵琶。她现在是魔力东方乐团的一名二胡乐手，与魔力东方乐团一起参与了2019年久石让主题系列音乐会，2021 Emory Cooke 午茶系列音乐会以及其他佐治亚州的音乐艺术文化节。

YINGLING ZHU (she/her) is excited and thrilled to be in her first non-musical play at Aurora. Born and raised in Shanghai, she has been singing/training since 10 years old! She holds 12 singing competition titles in China. She started her theatre debut in 2019, with parts in South Pacific, Avenue Q, Disaster, and the Sound of Music. She started doing film and tv in 2021 and is represented by Alexander White Agency. Yingling wants to thank her beloved husband and two kids for always supporting her!

Yiwen Wang is a Chinese language teacher and a Guzheng performer. Starting from early piano learning in her childhood, Yiwen Wang has shown her talent and enthusiasms in musical instruments. She has been learning Guzheng under the instruction of Yao Lu since 2018. She has passed with honors in Grade 6 of Guzheng Examination held by the Central Conservatory of Music and won Silver Award in the Fifth Singapore Raffles Cultural and Arts Festival Guzheng Competition - Adult in 2020. As a Chinese teacher, Yiwen would like to share the beauty of Chinese culture to her students from not only its language but also the Chinese traditional music.

王怡雯是一位中文老师，也是一名古筝演奏者。自幼学习钢琴的她展现了对乐器的学习天赋和热情。从2018年开始，王怡雯在路瑶老师的指导下开始学习古筝。目前，她已经以良好的成绩通过了中央音乐学院举办的古筝六级考试。并且在2020年新加坡莱佛士文化艺术节古筝成人组比赛中获得银奖。作为一名中文老师，王怡雯致力于通过语言和传统音乐向学生展现中国文化之美。

Yuezhen Fu,Guzheng grade 6,member of Magic Eastern Ensemble, performed guzheng solo at the annual meeting organized by the school in 2017, won silver prize in the 5th Singapore Raffles Cultural & Art in 2020, and silver key in Scholastic Art & Writing Awards in 2021.

Sophia Jiang is grateful to be performing in “We are the young” concert. Sophia has been practicing Guzheng for the last few years and has passed Grade 6 of Guzheng examination held by the central conservatory of music standard grad examination board. In 2020, Sophia performed at the Fifth Singapore Raffles Cultural and Arts Festival and won a silver award. 

姜焱晨(Sophia)非常荣幸能在“我们都还年轻”演奏会表演。Sophia已经有几年的古筝表演经验，并通过了中央音乐学院校外音乐水平考试（6级）。2020年， Sophia参加了第五届新加坡莱福士国际青少年艺术节的演出并获得银奖。

Hannah Liu has been learning Guzheng with Mrs. Yao Lu since 2018. She has passed the level six of the Central Conservatory of Music Standard Grade Examination (USA). She also won Silver Award of the Junior Guzheng Competition in the Fifth Singapore Raffles Cultural and Arts Festival. Hannah also enjoys learning Chinese culture through playing the Guzheng and appreciates the opportunity to introduce Chinese music to more people.

刘修涵从2018年开始跟随路瑶老师学习古筝。她目前已经通过中央音乐学院海外古筝专业等级考试第六级。她还在第五届新加坡莱佛士文化艺术节北美赛区古筝组比赛中获得银奖。刘修涵很喜欢通过古筝学习了解到更多的中国文化。她很珍惜能够把中国音乐介绍给更多中外朋友的机会。

Amy has engaged herself in various music activities from an early age. She started to learn piano at the age of 5 and began to have voice lessons when she was 8. She loves to play in musicals. About 2.5 years ago she also developed interest in Guzheng. Recently she has passed with honors, the Guzheng Grade 2 Examinations, conducted by the Chinese Central Conservatory of Music. 

Amy自小喜爱音乐。她5岁起学习钢琴、8岁开始上声乐课。她很喜欢参加音乐剧的演出。约两年半前，她对古筝产生兴趣并开始学习。最近她通过了中央音乐学院古筝专业二级考试。

Angela Xiao has been learning Guzheng with Mrs. Yao Lu since 2018 She won bronze award in 2020 Singapore Raffles culture and art festival.

肖悦娇从2018年开始跟随路瑶老师学习古筝。  2020年参加新加坡国际文化艺术节古筝比赛获得铜奖。
