About the Playwright

Natalie Symons is an actress and the author of the epistolary play, Lark Eden, for which she received Creative Loafing’s 2012 Best of the Bay award for Most Promising Playwright. Lark Eden has been hailed by critics as “brilliantly written, linguistically rich,” and “a tale that every person can relate to.” As an actress, Natalie has appeared on stages from Seattle to Florida, and has been recognized by critics as “one of the best actresses in the Bay Area.” She was nominated for a Jeff Norton Award for her portrayal of Catherine in The Foreigner at American Stage and most recently she appeared in An Empty Plate in the Cafe du Grand Boeuf at freeFall Theatre. She lives in Tampa, Florida with her husband, actor Jim Sorensen and their Keeshond Andy Roddick. She is currently invested in a labor of love—writing her first novel, a coming of age story set in a forgotten steel town in Pennsylvania.

About the Artist: Anita Stewart

Her parents would never have guessed that the red bearded Santa in kindergarten and the art lessons at the “Y” in junior high would have led to this. She graduated from the University of Memphis with a major addiction to art and a minor one to art education. After moving to Atlanta in 1983 with her family, she worked to advance as both an artist and an art teacher. As an artist she has achieved awards in many arenas: national, international and local juried competitions. Her work has graced the walls of universities and art museums. Her art school, Anita’s ArtsCool founded in 1998, has grown to become recognized as one of the “crown jewels of Buford” by the Gwinnett Daily Post. She also “teaches” through her multi layers of mixed media. Traveling to different countries has resulted in her numerous series that sing “Celebrate the Differences.” This array includes pieces painted on both sides, work containing interference pigments, galkyd, fairy dust, cold wax and plastic bags.
