Directed by Anne Towns
Musical Direction by Ann-Carol Pence
Choreography by Jen MacQueen
This recent Broadway hit pays tribute to the Jazz‑Age shows of the 1920’s that lifted our spirits during the Great Depression. When a die‑hard musical theatre fan plays his favorite cast album on his turntable, the musical literally bursts to life in his living room. A brazen Broadway starlet’s wedding day is complicated by a motley crew of zany guests, including a gin‑soaked chaperone assigned to keep a watchful eye over the bride. Winner of 5 Tony® Awards.

Producer’s Quote
Aurora Theatre Producing Artistic Director Anthony Rodriguez, “Some of the most rewarding experiences for me as a producer have come from working on new musicals. With last season’s success of the world premiere of Clyde ’n Bonnie: A Folktale or in 2010 when we produced the first post-Broadway production of A Catered Affair, Aurora is cultivating a national reputation with new musicals. The Drowsy Chaperone is full of show-stopping numbers, and because the show is so new, the comedy is contemporary and not dated. It is a really fun show.”

Get Down On It by D.D. Ike
The LONA Gallery presents mixed media artist Darlington Dike Ike (D.D. Ike), at Aurora Theatre during the run of The Drowsy Chaperone.
D. D. Ike is known for using a variety of techniques and media, creating a style all his own. Whatever the medium—acrylics, watercolors, fiberglass or resins—his unique style can be recognized as he combines random spontaneity with splatters of unique realistic objects. Many of D.D’s creations carry a musical theme and suggest that he is most certainly a lover of jazz, with flowing lines and vibrant colors giving us a visual sensation of what the jazz would sound like if captured on canvas. A graduate of the School of Art and Design, Auchi Polytechnics, one of the most prestigious schools in Nigeria, D. D. Ike’s works have been exhibited in prominent galleries all over the world and he is the recipient of local and international awards. ”My art is merely an extension of who and what I am. I can only sculpt, paint or produce my experiences, and for that, I thank God…”
Join us for a reception and meet D.D. Ike on Friday, March 22 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in the main lobby of Aurora Theatre. Refreshments will be served.
