THE MOUNTAINTOP: A Candid Conversation

COMMUNITY CONVERSATION

On Saturday, February 4th the Aurora Theatre in partnership with Gwinnett County Community Outreach office will host a community conversation following the The Mountaintop. In the closing of his Mountain speech, Dr. King talked about his vision of seeing the “promised land.” Did you know that Gwinnett’s history includes a “Promised Land”? This historical piece of land, now owned by the Livseys, a prominent African American Family in Gwinnett, is nurtured in the Snellville/Centerville area of Gwinnett County and has a unique story of its emergence in the 1800s until now. Attend the community conversation featuring Dorethia Livsey who will give an account and historical perspective of the Promise Land and what it means for current and future generations.
This community conversation will be moderated by Tyisha Fernandes, with Channel 2 action news and will feature a Q&A. The event will start at 5pm and is free and open to the public. A light reception will follow.
